Central
The Region is renowned for its lakes, button grass plains, rugged scenery and challenging weather conditions. The Tasmanian Trail offers a pathway across the Central Highlands linking the largely rural pathway of the north and north west coast with the communities of the upper Derwent Valley and the gateway to Hobart, the Capital City of Tasmania.
The route across the Central Highlands is not for the novice and poses several challenges even for the most experienced.
Equestrians venturing along the Central Highlands route should be aware of the use of roads to make a number of pathway connections.
People undertaking this section of the Tasmanian Trail are further advised to travel with company and in the case of equestrians with a support vehicle. Alternative pathways that may be more user friendly are presently being investigated.
