One day treks for horse riders
1. Latrobe to Sheffield 31.8km - a mixture of experiences along country roads, bush tracks and an old railway formation. Stop off in Railton for lunch.
2. Quamby to Bracknell 36.5km - country roads at the start and finish with a long section of bush land through State forest.
3. Ouse to Jones River 26.4km - great views of the Derwent Valley from back roads and then into the bush for most of the remaining ride. The Broad River can be challenge.
4. Jones River to Bushy Park 29.5km - mainly though farm land with a climb up Mt Bethune from where magnificent views can be enjoyed.
5. Judbury to Geeveston 26.9km - after a climb out of the Huon Valley the ride is through State forest to the outskirts of Geeveston.
Two day treks for horse riders
1. Sheffield to Quamby 63km - country roads and state forest stopping off on the banks of the Mersey River for a night. If you have a support party they can join you at this delightful campsite. This ride could extended to three days by camping for the second night at the Quamby Corner Caravan Park where they cater for horses, and then riding onto Bracknell the next day.
2. Ouse to Bushy Park 55.9km
If you like a ride away from traffic this ride is a good choice. It has some short road sections but most of the ride will be though bush and farm land. The camp at Jones River is on private property and a beautiful quiet place to stay. A holding yard and adjacent paddock are provided.
