The Derwent Valley
leads Trail users through
farming country, past
historic buildings,
including oast houses,
located close to the
Derwent River.

After passing behind Mount Wellington,
the Trail enters the Huon Valley and its
many natural and man made features –
apple orchids, vineyards, craft shops and
renowned mountain and river features.

While finishing in Dover, a fishing port,
the Trail offers an ideal gateway to
unique wilderness experiences to be
found further south – Recherché Bay
and the start of the renowned South
Cape Track is now within easy reach!

Before leaving the Derwent Valley Trail
users are encouraged to explore the
town of New Norfolk with its historic
buildings and renowned antique shops.

The journey behind Mt. Wellington
provides an opportunity to take a side trip
to view Hobart from the Pinnacle before
travelling towards Dover.

The Huon Valley section of the Trail
leads travellers through State Forest to
Geeveston, gateway to the world
renowned Tahune Airwalk – a visit is
almost mandatory.

Approaching Dover, Trail users will be
exposed to the vista of the small seaport
with its three small islands – Faith, Hope
and Charity.

Arrival at the end of the Tasmanian Trail
provides time to relax and contemplate
visiting a number of regional attractions,
particularly Hastings Caves and
Recherche Bay.
